This macabre Diamond and Ruby ring depicts a coiled snake with Ruby eyes and a stylised skull encrusted with old rose cut Diamonds. The silver skull sits on the serpent’s 18ct Yellow Gold body. This is a remarkable statement ring crafted in the Georgian Memento Mori style.

Memento Mori was a popular concept in Georgian England. Its literal translation is “Remember you will die”, and the pieces contain sombre imagery such as skulls and skeletons. Whilst it may seem a morbid choice, the style was intended to remind people of the brevity of life, and to therefore seize the day and enjoy living.

Beautiful engravings pick out every scale of the coiled serpent, which represents an eternal, intertwined love – a beautiful combination, reminding us to both love truly and live well.
